The federal government is giving Tax credits to include 30% of the cost, with no upper limit through 2016 (for existing homes & new construction)
Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation offers incentives for its residential customers to inhabit energy efficient homes. A $1,000 rebate is available for customers who build new Energy Star qualified homes. Rebates are also offered for qualifying heat pumps and electric water heaters. Please note, not all ENERGY STAR qualified products qualify for a tax credit. ENERGY STAR distinguishes energy efficient products which, although they may cost more to purchase than standard models, will pay you back in lower energy bills within a reasonable amount of time, without a tax credit.
